Collaboration

Framework

In recent years, we have established project-based partnerships with universities and research institutions worldwide, including Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the National University of Singapore.

  • Project Design: Each project spans 6–18 months, focusing on understanding, analyzing, optimizing, and resolving real-world, large-scale R&D challenges on infrastructure.
  • Collaboration Model: Led by university professors as Principal Investigators (PIs), we embed long-term interns at ByteDance (Douyin Group). The company provides projects, funding, internship opportunities, and project mentors.
  • Deliverables: Projects typically yield algorithm implementation and validation, deployment, academic papers, patents, industry presentations, and potential follow-up projects or full-time employment opportunities for interns.
  • Past Projects: Areas include video-on-demand / live-streaming networks, edge networks, multi-path transmission, CDN scheduling, resource orchestration, computation scheduling, and AIOps. Outcomes have been published in top-tier venues such as IEEE INFOCOM.
